Sotomenor
Me no likey how the Sotomayor nomination is playing out. Who's racist now? Congress may not like the Ricans, but thank goodness the Repubs have no chance of preventing her confirmation.

¡Date Prisa Que Vamos Tarde!
Latino Standard Time (LST) refers to the amount of time between when someone of Latin American origin says that they will be somewhere and when they actually are there. Generally, Latino standard time ranges between LT (Local Time) + 30min and LT + 2h. In rare instances, LST can be LT + up to 1 day. Now, everyone knows that I run on LST for the most part. I may be a bad Rican (no pool, no salsa, and no baseball), but I'm good through and through when it comes to how it's plain impossible for me to adhere to Gringo Time. But sometimes even this Rican's get his act together and show up on time, especially when it comes to big-arse Latino Presidential Inaugural Gala party times. I gotta find me a ticket! Special Friends works for La Raza, right?

Ni que fuera el Rey de Roma que aiga caído del cielo...
Um, yeah, why did Ricky feel the need to give his twins I-talian names? Matteo and Valentino? Makes them sound like the new Dolce & Gabbana. I guess it makes sense since they are designer babies, after all. But whatever happened to good ole Rican names like Chucho or Yuyo or Bauta or Goyo? Hellz, if he wanted to give them twin-type names, he could have even gone with Guancho and Güincho. Pffft...
But seriously, Ricky. Declárate, ya. The Gayken did it. You can, too.

Sexo y el Campo
There must be sess on the brain today and in the air today (doesn't that have a tendency to happen when it's cold out?). Tonight, NatGeo is going to be talking about the sess in different cultures around the world. And the NYT came out with an article on the 3rd gender of Oaxaca. Pretty interesting stuff considering that Mexico (like all Latin nations) is so machista and homophobic. Good stuff to curl up with your loved one(s) to.

I'm a Little Bit Country...
I'm a little bit aguinaldo...
Kansas has gone all Latino Christmas culture on us. I think it's a pretty cool idea to expose the majority to the ever-expanding minority. All they need is to order some of the pasteles from that lady in Nueva Yol, and they'll be set. Yummy times.

Way To Represent
Now what the fuh was up with this woman? Had to be tied down with duct tape on the plane by crew and passengers. And she had to be Rican from la Isla, too. Jesus Chreesus, ¡qué vergüenza! It's bad enough with my peoples and the clapping every time the plane they're on lands. But this kind of behavior? Ave María, purísima...And what the fuh is also the problem with my peoples in general? Now they could be responsible for not letting the gays marry in the CA or the AZ. Sure, they all love them some Walter Mercado for the idea of his psychic abilities and flair. But when it comes to the reality of his sexuality and right to marry his fellow hombre, well, then, that's another story entirely. Not even Ugly Betty could convince them otherwise. And en español. Such a shame.
But, wait a minute. Did I just out Walter Mercado? He's never admitted he's the gay and has actually always said that he's asexual because he's celibate. Oops...Oh, well. It's not like we didn't know. Right, Ricky?

No Hallmark for You!
I know this is a day late and a dollar short. I enjoyed yesterday's holiday just like every other good Federal employee in DC, so indulge me for a sec. But I can't think of a more fitting holiday to commemorate with a card than one dedicated to a man responsible for bringing on so much suffering and strife to the "New World." Of course, without a Señor Colón, there would be no Mango as he is known today, so I can't totally hate on CC. Oh, internal conflict! It makes me want to be back in Rico where it's so nice that we actually celebrate La Conquista twice. Too much rum and food and beach to think about all this post-modern, native peoples' justice, feely stuff.
