Oye Mi Canto

Geddem, it's been a long while since I've posted!  A lot has happened since December.  The Jayhawk and I went to Costa Rica with the Chimneys to celebrate the nuptials of Dags and Mary Rice.  We went to KC to visit the Jayhawk's familia for his birthday (where he ended up getting the suede Prada boots that I'd scoped at Halls -- I'm not still bitter about that...no...).  I sang drunky karaoke Madonna (Like a Prayer) and Tina (Proud Mary) at La Linterna Verde (que te quiero verde) with Lady LaLa and the Boyz.  We saw Klingon Shakespeare auditions.  We bid au revoir to Fruchey, who's off in Austin for bigger and better things (and by "things" I think we all know I mean pipis...oh!; that was out loud).  We did pop-up dinner for Chez Billy at the Montserrat House.  I watched the 3rd Underworld movie with Puff and Candy -- and loved it (?!).  We mourned Don Cornelius and had our own drunky Soul Train revivals in our living room late nite.  We celenebriated Mattie's big move to the farm and danced to Whitney.  All in all, a ton of times over the past few months.  And tonight I finally released the latest Mango Mix for my friends to enjoy.  No Snow for Mango.  And the tracklist is:

A L’Excès, For Sure

Lovin' how Iggy Pop is le nouveau visage for Paco Rabbane's new Black XS L’Excès fragrances.  I have a feeling that many moments during our long weekend in Vegas (T minus 14 hours until the Town Car picks Shatterproof, the Jayhawk, and me up...yes, I got a Town Car to give us a ride to the airport; go big or go home, mis bonitos) will be black(ed out) in excess.  Yay!

Japi Jalogüín, mis bonitos! These cookies are just too cute. If only I could bake. Maybe I could hone whatever baking skills I got and make them for next year. In the meantime, though, I'll be honing my drinking and (maybe/surely drunky) dancing skills at the Disco Inferno party happening tonight at the Polly's Cafe. Drinks by Tisha. Playlist by the Mango. All disco hits with a few instances of MJ's "Thriller" thrown in for good measure. I'll be there by 8, and the Jayhawk will be flying in later on, if anyone's lookin' to join. It's sure to be good times.

Hitting It Outta the Park

So, it's not the end of days on Rico after all. In fact, it's a great day for Rico. Last weekend's quake did little more than rattle a few bones, backwards-path Omar is safely off to sea, and Roberto Clemente's getting his own statue in Cooperstown on November 1!* He's being unveiled along with Lou Gehrig and Jackie Robinson as symbols of character and courage in baseball and life. Qualities that, unfortunately, many players today lack to too great a degree. You listenin', A-Rod?

Talk About a Hail Mary

This picture and the story going with it make me gag a little. Brady Quinn hugging up on Johnny Boy?! I've never gotten the fascination with this doofus, but I'm only going by looks and personality and not sporting ability. Looks and personality are all I care for. And in both departments, homeboy's proven himself a certified tool.

Don't BQ know this move's been played already with poor results? Better watch out and do right by moderating his own youth-issues debate*, or Fat Joe's gonna come after his ass, too!
