La Semana in News #18
I don't think this recipe is in the Betty Crocker cookbook.
Credit woes for credit unions.
KC area breaks 2,000,000.
All those people will need to be fed. Sloppy Joe's are a good way to do that.
The jury let Anibal go?! On all counts?!
Today in 1873.
Where are Ricans gonna find boxes to use as their luggage now?
Selena to the rescue (as in Lopez and stray Rican dogs).

¿Qué tha Wha?
Jaime Cantizano! How could you? I know you're only an unbearably hott hunka man who merely hosts a trashy 4-hour "celebrity" gossip round table show in Spain, but i thought you at least would have semi-objected to the idea for this spot. Love how she lost a track from her weave, though. Maybe that made it all worth it for you, too, ¿eh, guapo?

My Kwanzaa Will Never Be That Happy
If the Holidaze haven't killed you yet (and I say haven't yet because we Ricans still got Three Kings Day to celebrate on Sunday), Nobody Likes Sandra Lee has got you covered with this gross-arse Kwanzaa cake. It's sick. Just sick. I mean, seriously, are those corn nuts she topped the cake with?! Somebody stop her, please! Ugh, she makes me gag. We could sick Popcorn Chimp on her. But she'd probably scare him off, too. Awww...cutie pie...
And speaking of Three Kings Day, remember that Gimme Gimme post on calendars? Um, yeah, this is the one you can get for me. I knew fire was hott but never that caliente! Dayum! ¡Echa chispa!

¡Leones y Tigres y Panteras, Ay Bendito!
Watch out, mis bonitos! There's a panther on the loose in Montehiedra (where my parents and sisters live).* My poor sister (5 of 5) is scared out of her pobre mente. Apparently, last night at 2ayem, she caught her own shadow out of the side of her eye, jumped back, brushed up against the fur of the life-sized Christmas teddy bear my mom has by the front entrace to the house, and started screaming bloody murder. Now, I know it's something serious to have a panther roaming around the 'hood, but that shizz has had me cracking up for hours now. Hahaha! Woo...Sigh.

As Far as the Eye Can See (Part 2)
And that's what 100,000 people look like in Denver. It's the largest ever domestic gathering for an Obama speech. Only 8 (8!) more days until election day. Please keep that momentum going. And please be watchful of the (maybe on purpose) faulty e-voting machines. These feckers are actually flipping votes right in front of voters' eyes! This is good for no one. I'm feeling Florida 2000 all over again.

$150K for What Now?
Now this is who Andre, Valentino, and Karl need to beat to a purple pulp. $150,000 spent by the RNC to wardrobe La Palin and her minion?! WTF?! "Nothing says Main Street like Saks Fifth Avenue," indeed. It doesn't even matter that it's all going to charity at the end of the campaign. This is too disingenuous even for Repubs. And why the feck can't she buy her own demmed clothes for her and her kids when there are too many mothers out there who can barely afford to clothe or even feed their children? She be making 'nuff coin by selling Alaska's liquid natural gas to the Japanese, onetime. But La Palin's got the freeloading down masterfully, so this is just par for the course, I guess.I just wish she would have made better fashion choices. If you're going to spend $150K on clothes, make them count. The clothes should pop. Hers don't even fizzle. Pffft...
Oh! But look at it this way. "If Sarah Palin's $150,000 wardrobe had a life of its own, it would get a tax cut from a President Obama." Ha!

As Far as the Eye Can See
Dayum! This is what 100,000 people looks like. Add the extra 75,000 Obama attracted in Kansas City, and that's a whole lotta peoples in one day who want to listen to what he's saying. You can't deny that Barack's got the momentum. We need that energy to remain on his side so we can take back La Casa Blanca on Nov. 4. Fingers to remain crossed until then.

La Semana in News #3
Special Edition (because we're getting ready to go to brunch at Acadiana before Young Kevin's play) and special entry (because it has nothing to do with either Rico or KS):
Colin Powell endorses Barack Obama! That's enough for a week's worth of news. Take that Miss SNL Sarah Palin.

¡Anda pa’l Sirete!
I knew my boy, Jorge de Castro Font, wouldn't go down without a fight! He's taking e'ryone down with him. Good boy! Word on the street is that Jorgito's intimated shady dealings with Fla-Fla Republican Lincoln Díaz-Balart, including giving Díaz-Balart $50K on behalf of the Fonalledas family. For what? Who can say? Yet. I'm sure Jorgito will keep squealing.
I say we boycott Plaza Las Américas! Ricans can't have their hard-earned dollars (yes, Rico uses the dollar) go to grease the wheels of corrupt Cubans in Miami. Demmed Cubans...Although, they do make a mean cup of coffee. Yum...
