Santa brought me a Wii for Christmas! I see some bowling matches in my near future. Hopefully I won't fling the controller into the TV screen. That's the Jayhawk's biggest fear. Who, PS and BTW, must have been very good this year because Santa brought him a Galaxy Tab. He just about cried when he unwrapped the box. And his face light up once he powered the thing up and started playing with it. I have to admit that I'm a tad jealous. But, that's okay because the Three Kings are set to pay us a visit in a couple of weeks (with Bosox Siobhan and BKDM in tow!). I can get my own Tab then. Oh, the joys of being a Rican and celebrating 2 gift-giving holidays...I'm thankful for that.
And I'm thankful for being able to share our Christmas Eve dinner with Shatterproof. It was a good time. Beef stroganoff (with bacon), green beans (with bacon), corn with poblano peppers (with bacon), and biscuits (not with bacon but yes with lots of butter). Yum! And then there was the 18-pack of Bud Heavies, the bottle of wine, and the coquito (Liz Taylor's recipe, of course). Can't have a proper Christmas without the booze. Or without watching "A Christmas Story," which we did and almost watched twice. But drunky sleep beckoned. Shatterproof left around 2:30AM and took a jug of coquito for his sister-in-law's family dinner tonight (them peoples are gonna have the sobriety knocked out of them real good). I finally made it to bed around 3AM; exhausted, but again, thankful. And thankful that it's still just Sunday and tomorrow I get the day off. Score for being a Gub'ment worker!

My Kwanzaa Will Never Be That Happy
If the Holidaze haven't killed you yet (and I say haven't yet because we Ricans still got Three Kings Day to celebrate on Sunday), Nobody Likes Sandra Lee has got you covered with this gross-arse Kwanzaa cake. It's sick. Just sick. I mean, seriously, are those corn nuts she topped the cake with?! Somebody stop her, please! Ugh, she makes me gag. We could sick Popcorn Chimp on her. But she'd probably scare him off, too. Awww...cutie pie...
And speaking of Three Kings Day, remember that Gimme Gimme post on calendars? Um, yeah, this is the one you can get for me. I knew fire was hott but never that caliente! Dayum! ¡Echa chispa!

¡Japi Nu Yi-ar!
¡Un Feliz Año pa' tí, Que te crezca el bling-bling, and all those other Rican holiday sayings that we hold so dear! Now enough of the introspection; time to get re-drunky at 1532 1st Street!
Update!: I had no need to get re-drunky. I apparently was well drunky and posing at Casa Chimney Fall to ring in the New Year in style. Ooph.

Gimme Gimme #8
Only 20 more days until the birthday of the Little Baby Jesus. How about gifting some Nativity scenes to commemorate the occasion?
For a mere $5185 (sans tax) you can gift the fancy Lladró set. I suggest you hit up Uncle Karl for this one.
The there's the cutesy, throw-back Precious Moments set. Doesn't that take you back?
Celebrate in modernity with this sleek and faceless olive wood set.
Or keep it traditional and rústico with this Mexican number. Actually, go with this Peruvian set.
Peruvian is the new...I can't finish that sentence.
But if you want to give a meaningful gift, go ahead and make your own like this guy. Your cheap-arse ways will get you nowhere with me, though. Pastores a Belén, indeed.

I'm a Little Bit Country...
I'm a little bit aguinaldo...
Kansas has gone all Latino Christmas culture on us. I think it's a pretty cool idea to expose the majority to the ever-expanding minority. All they need is to order some of the pasteles from that lady in Nueva Yol, and they'll be set. Yummy times.

No Hallmark for You!
I know this is a day late and a dollar short. I enjoyed yesterday's holiday just like every other good Federal employee in DC, so indulge me for a sec. But I can't think of a more fitting holiday to commemorate with a card than one dedicated to a man responsible for bringing on so much suffering and strife to the "New World." Of course, without a Señor Colón, there would be no Mango as he is known today, so I can't totally hate on CC. Oh, internal conflict! It makes me want to be back in Rico where it's so nice that we actually celebrate La Conquista twice. Too much rum and food and beach to think about all this post-modern, native peoples' justice, feely stuff.
